Hey y’all!

So we’ve just completed the last leg of our nationwide “Street Gig” tour today!

This week has seen us go to the north of the UK and has proved… interesting to say the least!

Here’s a brief outline of the weeks’ main events:

- We started in Nottingham on Monday, Craig ate some Kangaroo for the first time…he didn’t like it!

- Tuesday, we sat in the van in the rain.

- Wednesday, we played for the beautiful people of Leeds and done an interview for The Guardian!!! Oooooooh Errrrrrr! We also saw the biggest cakes ever in a restaurant in Haydock and have regretted not picking one up ever since!

- Thursday, we went into the offices of femalefirst.co.uk in Wigan and had a chat and played a couple of songs for their website…then had a nice curry with Rob’s Dad who lives in Liverpool… THEN, had a couple of beers, then a couple of Vodka and Red Bulls, then just a couple shots, then had and amazing night at The Cavern and a good ol’ sing along to The Beatles, accompanied by a few more beers, vodka, and shots… then Clark climbed to the top of a really high gate, jumped… and

BROKE HIS FOOT!

Thursday/Friday am was then spent in A and E with Clark pretending it didn’t really hurt… He’s now on crutches and resting up back in Wales, look out for him hobbling to a pub near you!

Here’s his lovely cast…

In other exciting news, we’ve been nominated for some BMA’s (Brighton’s answer to the Brits apparently)! Which is awesome… so we’d love it if you can vote…

Each vote costs 50p which goes to the Teenage Cancer Trust in it’s entirety!!! So vote for us in as many categories as you can using PayPal or debit/credit card, and be sure your money is going to a good cause!

That’s all for now folks…

We’re currently sitting in a Travelodge room, watching the Big Brother final… Having what feels a lot like a “Girls Night In”! Tour manager Craig is an avid Big Brother fan, but this is my first episode, and it’s the last one EVER! I’ll be a bit gutted if I enjoy it to be honest…no fear of that so far though.

We’re up near Nottingham at the moment… just done a lovely interview with the lovely Clare Elise at Mansfield 103.2 FM (She’s got proper cool red hair). Then tomorrow we’re off to Leeds and Sheffield to hit the streets there, and do a string of interviews!

Craig is in bed feeding Mike chocolate… and Me, Rob and Clark are drinking some Red Wine from LIDL…it tastes like shit!

I also just got asked to try and style Clarks hair like Russell Brand… Done! Check Craig’s Facebook, for proof!

Is that long enough for a blog?

Maybe a bit longer?

Nah, that’ll do!

Byeeeeee!

We got on the road again yesterday for another week of street gigging across the UK. Having seen the rain forecast we took our time getting on the road by organising a little something for the VIP members (coming soon) ;0) We arrived at just past dinner time which is always a drama in the camp! It seems to be the case that we all have the same co

ndition of sarcastic, argumentative, hunger disease (SAHD)! The result was us indecisively walking around Bournemouth for an hour looking for our favourite food establishment… The Harvester’! … But we couldn’t find it. Instead we found a lovely little Italian joint called ‘Pizza Hut’. After soaking up the authentic Italian culture (and several pizzas), we headed back to our budget hotel where we had previously ‘Shotgunned’ the top or bottom bunk of our prison style room for the night. Won’t be coming back to this hotel!

After a jolly good nights sleep, we woke up bright and early, trotted down to the breakfast room in our bare feet and PJs only to find that, as usual, we’re too late! We jumped in the van to find our own ‘Toady’ and then headed down to the pier on Bournemouth’s seafront where we set up the gear in a record time of 15 mins, 27 secs! We got a good set in before being stopped by the police but then we were suddenly surrounded by the owner of the Pier, a restaurant owner, a Bournemouth council member and several members of staff in the area asking us all to play at their events! So it looks like we’ll be coming back to Bournemouth to play at the band stand, on the pier and for the air festival in a few weeks time!

We’re back in the van now on our way to Exeter… I’m getting a little travel sick writing this on the windy roads so will love and leave ya’ll! We’ve been doing lots of radio interviews on our tour… We’ve got a busy day of them tomorrow so check us out live…

Thursday on BBC Radio Devon from 11am.
Radio Plymouth from 4pm.
Phonic FM from 7:45
Exeter FM 8pm for an hour “Takeover”, where we’ll be spinning our favourite tunes and playing a couple of live acoustic versions of our own songs!

Hope to see you at a street gig near you!

Lots of love,

We’ve mastered the art of turning up on time, what I mean by that is no matter what time plan to meet up or be collected… it’ll be precisely an hour later.

Before I begin a shout out to Mr Chunky Chirps for his extra pair of hands on our excursion to the south west, motivation and general lugging kit about really made the Newquay chapter of the Street Gig tour an easier one and one to remember.

We stopped in Plymouth on the way to Newquay to rest after the long drive from Brighton, which happened to fly by with the help of a few renditions of the obvious Proclaimers and Hanson songs… did I say Hanson… erm no?! Not much to say about Plymouth as we didn’t see much, but the Route 38 cafe looked like a very promising for a lovely bit of toady… ah, it wasn’t. Using the Brighton Breakfast Review rating guide we marked this wannabe redneck eatery at 1 out of 5 mushrooms. The 1 Mushroom point came from our “Kick his arse Sea-bass” impressions… which we all know is from the film Dumb and Dumber… except Ad (Me, Myself and Irene).

As we had already Street Gigged Newquay

Wednesday

Having spent half the week waiting for the guys to recover from there bout of the flu we finally hit the road today
and headed off to Oxford for an interview with Oxford 107.9fm with the lovely Sophie (Brucey) Bruce. I spent most of the
journey having to convince the boy’s that I really did used to be a Bus Driver!!!

En route we visited a service station that Mike was convinced was the greatest service station in the WORLD….. IT WASN’T!! They Had Free Wi-Fi which evidently wasn’t free, one positive was the McDonalds. You don’t get many of them on the motorways of the UK! We finally arrived at the Radio station a little early so Rob and I invented a great game based on the kids favourite “Curb Ball” with a little twist which we entitled “Curb Ball Tennis”… Clever hey??!!

The Interview itself went really well and was aired on the Breakfast Show Thursday morning, we even managed to bag
ourselves a little treat from “Brucey” in the form of Bubblegum flavoured air freshners which we inhaled all the way
to Bath where our Travelodge Penthouse awaited us……

Live in session on 107.9FM

Thursday

WOW, that was some “quiet” night out… We started the evening with a lovely ‘Curry and a pint’ jobby and then managed to find ourselves in an “O’Niells”, we were sooo excited!! It turned out ot be an open mic night and Clark managed to act like a Diva within about 30 seconds by telling the guy running it that he was in a band and they were awesome!!
So the boys played a couple of songs and then we had the great idea(it seemed that way at the time) that I would replace Ad in the band for a song and sing a cover…. That didn’t really go to plan, I could literally only remember the chorus of both songs we attempted so now had my 4th nickname in a week “Chorus Craig”.

Despite all of the above and quite a few orange juices later

Had an awesome street gig yesterday in lovely Bristol, we made loads of new friends, didn’t get hit by the rain, and we didn’t have to speak to one policeman regarding our noise levels… so today in Southampton WE’RE GONNA BE LOUD!!!

As I write we’re on our way to another radio session then we’re gonna pitch up somewhere in Southampton and give those guys a treat!

Craig, our tour manager had the biggest burger we’ve ever seen last night… 3 burgers, Bacon, Egg, Mushroom, Onion and Cheese. Thought you might like to see it?

By the noise he was making in the bathroom this morning I think it may have come back out looking exactly the same as it went in! Sadly, we don’t have a picture of that…

We spent most of yesterdays traveling time coming up with Rubylux spin off ideas based on the album title, song titles and lyrics etc… Thought I’d share a few with you…

Scene; Travelodge, Bath UK. Mike and Rob sit on bed, whilst Clark blows up his inflatable toy (mattress) for the evening…

Enter Adam…

Adam: My my, we have had such a long day today, haven’t we? (Said in a flatulent manner)

Clark: (Gasping) By heck, we sure have, we’ve scaled half the country. Been up since 8… (Continues blowing) Mike?

Mike: Not a truer word spoken Clark, (in an enthused tone), i think my highlight of the day would have to have been that fantastic Acoustic Session and Interview on Oxford’s 107.9 FM which one can fold their ear to HERE!

Rob, Clark, Ad: Indeed! (Simultaneously)

Rob: What a butt clenching giggle we all had, as Clark decided to perform the whole session Crossed Eyed.

Ad: What an extraordinary twat!

Mike: Not a truer word spoken Ad! (in an enthused tone!)

Enter Ye Olde Craig… (Dressed as an Admiral)

Craig: HANDS OFF COCKS FEET IN SOCKS!

Mike, Clark, Ad and Rob Remove Hands and Replace Socks…

Craig: Don’t forget I’ve had to drag your aforementioned clenched butts up and down our Queens fair, lush, green, royal, great and beautiful land!

Ad: (strolling flatulently) Indeed! For the morrow we depart for a public right of way exhibition, or as all the cool kids call them… “Street gigs”

Mike: Is that not just Ye Olde Busking?

Clark: PAH!

Ad: No, no, no, you’re mistaken you poor lamb!

Rob: The latter is different to the former, as a man is master of his liberty, their business still lies out a’door.

All: ……. yeaaaaahhhhhhhhh…..

Mike: (Proclaiming) Would one care for one or more than one of ones finest ye olde ale of one pint down at ones ye olde Slug and ye Lettuce?

Clark: PAH! Let’s. Maybe we should wrap this blog up and continue on the morrow?

All: IN-DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED

To Ye Continued…
